The power of positive thinking — will it help you change your life?
We talk about it a lot — but does it really work?
As a practicing therapist and life strategist I have observed too many times, the the importance of how we view ourselves, and how when we have a negative view of ourselves, how disruptive this can be.
Unfortunately, many people do spend too much time and energy focusing on their imperfections and shortcomings instead of their strengths and potential. If I had a magic wand, I think the one thing I’d do is help as many people as possible see their own awesomeness and help them to move away from being trapped in their head full of their own perceived failures.
Positive thinking does have the power to transform your life in countless ways. But it’s not something you can just turn on. Imagine your brain as a computer programme. For years and years we might have written a script about how terrible it is. Whilst I have therapies which can in an hour or so help to rewrite some of that and deal with trauma, being positive takes practice. I do believe it is worth it — from improving your mental and physical health to increasing your success and happiness, the benefits of positive thinking are numerous and far-reaching.
