The Importance of Self-Care: 5 tips for quick self care breaks

If you don’t look after you, how can you look after others?

Self care. We all know we should do it. We hear that it’s great for us. But in the chaos of our lives finding the time for such things often feels laughable. A lot of the ideas touted are about taking long luxurious baths or walks, so here are a few ideas which you can hopefully fit into the day without too much stress!

  1. Quick stress relief: Taking just a few minutes a day to practice deep breathing, meditation, or stretching can help you destress and recharge. You can even do these activities while you’re sitting at your desk!
  2. Fuel your body: Eating healthy, nutritious foods and staying hydrated will give you the energy you need to power through your day. Make sure to pack a healthy lunch or snack to munch on throughout the day. Even just eating an apple a day is better than nothing!
  3. Get moving: Exercise doesn’t have to be a long, time-consuming commitment. Take a quick 10-minute walk during your lunch break, or do some simple stretches while you’re watching TV in the evening. I’ve bought a super cheap static bike to use when I’m doing some online training or when watching tv.
