Let’s be honest — we’re all just a little bit entitled

We’ve got used to too much for too little

A while back, I came across an excellent twitter feed, showing examples from the last 100 years, of adults saying that children of that decade have it easy. What it showed though, is the trend throughout at least the last 120 odd years of history that adults always think that children have it easy and are going soft. (as an aside, I can’t find that feed, but if I do I’ll link it here).

Now in someway, they are all correct. the below graph shows an undeniable overall trend of people living in poverty reducing and those not, in creasing, even as the world’s population has increased.

Particularly in the western world, these days we expect a lot out of life. We want things to be cheap, convenient and easy to get our hands on. This creates a perception that we should be able to have what we want, when we want, and when we can't we get annoyed. Looking at the World bank graph below, it would imply a significant number of people in the world ‘do ok’
