In past times it wasn’t uncommon for girls of 11/12 being married off, but that was based on life expectancy of 30 being good!

It isn’t just about the age – although that is a key place to start, there has to also be understanding that women and young girls need to be given freedom to develop and not pushed down the ‘I must look sexy’ to be valued. That concept still permeates most societies in some form, in the UK rape survivors are often still faced with cruel questions by defence lawyers such as ‘ you weren’t dressed appropriately’.

I totally agree that 13 is too young, but we all need to challenge the everyday objectification of women in order to change the dialogue over all!
