I have mixed views about the state of the world and its effects on children and I belive that like most things these days - it's getting more polarised. What I mean by that - there are a significant number of childrne and young people, who are quite frankly, far more together than I ever was at their age. They care about the future of the world, have found causes greater than themselves and I have high hopes for them and the future.

Then at the other end of the scale, there are those who are further isolated from society, and as a result see the negative and struggle for their place in the world.

Here's where social media come in (in my mind). The algorithm feeds you more and more of the stuff you engage with. If you are at that happy focused end, you find causes, things to be passionate about and you feel connected to other people. If you fall in the latter end, social media feeds you depressing, increasingly dark and negative content.

So with the anti bullying legislation, it is possible those more inclined to positive thinking find all the positive data about it and so it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy - and vice versa

Both are echo chambers. Remembering m insecurities as a teenager, I wonder what I would have found on social media if it was available!
